New to this community && to live journal. I really like it at LJ!! Also me and two friends are big JM/Soco fans. We have even created an organization to help support Andrew educate people about cancer, it is called Do Your Part Now. We have formed a community on LJ called Do Your Part Now. I just wanted to let you all know about it. Please check us out, read our bio, and feel free to add entries as well! We hope to hear from all of you. We also have a myspace page at www.myspace.com/doyourpartnow. Andrew knows about it and us. We have created buttons to show your support of Andrew and cancer research && Andrew has several of these buttons and often wears them at concerts! Have you ever heard the story of Sadako and her thousand paper cranes? Sadako was a real girl who, like Andrew, had Leukemia.

"The paper crane has become an international symbol of peace in recent years as a result of it's connection to the story of a young Japanese girl named Sadako Sasaki born in 1943. Sadako was two years old when the atom bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, Japan on August 6, 1945. As she grew up, Sadako was a strong, courageous and athletic girl. In 1955, at age 11, while practicing for a big race, she became dizzy and fell to the ground. Sadako was diagnosed with Leukemia, "the atom bomb" disease.
Sadako's best friend told her of an old Japanese legend which said that anyone who folds a thousand paper cranes would be granted a wish. Sadako hoped that the gods would grant her a wish to get well so that she could run again. She started to work on the paper cranes and completed over 1000 before dying on October 25, 1955 at the age of twelve." http://www.sadako.org/sadakostory.htm

Remembering this story, and knowing how well each project is coming so far, I decided to make a project for Andrew myself. Although Andrew is doing so much better, he’s going to remain with the memory of being diagnosed and treated for Acute Lymphatic Leukemia. As a fan, I think that it’s up to us to show him how proud we are that he got over the disease, and to thank him. Imagine all the hell Andrew has been through this year, but remember also how much he gave. How much money went to the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation from Project Flip Flop? What about projects like Be Positive and 11:11 A.M.?

Without Andrew, these funds wouldn’t have been raised. This year I have donated to dozens upon dozens of charities. Why? Not because I didn’t have sympathy for those who suffer from horrendous diseases before his diagnosis, but because Andrew reminded me of this compassion and he reminded me how important it is to think of others once in a while.

For this, Andrew needs to know that even after his disease is gone, we’re still thinking of him and everyone who continues to fight day after day.

I decided to start a project which I call “1000 Cranes For Andrew” and I’m asking each of you to participate.

You’ll make one (or multiple) paper crane(s) and decorate them in any way you’d like. I encourage you to write messages to Andrew on the cranes; simple things like “I Will Fight” and “It’s Good To Be Alive” work perfectly. You are not, however, limited to this idea. Please be as creative as possible and make as many cranes as you would like.

After making the crane, take a picture of it. It’d be best if you did something nice with your cranes, like hang them from a ceiling so they’re ‘flying’. Unfortunately I’m not able to give out my address here, so for the time being the only way I can receive the pictures is if you have them on your computer and e-mail or IM them to me. If you don’t have a digital camera or scanner, I’m sure a friend would be willing to let you use theirs. Feel free to include a sentence or two that you’d like Andrew to see, but don’t feel obliged to.

Once you send your pictures to me, I’ll print them out (on photo paper, of course) and create a scrapbook of all your cranes. Please understand that the photos or messages cannot be too large, because I would like to have photos of one thousand cranes and I will not be able to fit all of them all the time. I AM however, able to resize pictures so if you’re unsure you have no need to worry. Also, encourage friends to participate. Even if they aren’t familiar with Andrew, I’m sure they’d be willing to help based on the reasoning that this project exists.

DO NOT GET RID OF YOUR CRANES! A short period of time after I send the scrapbook to Andrew (about two weeks or so) I’ll tell you all to send YOUR cranes to him along with a short note (try to limit yourselves to a page as Andrew will quite possibly be receiving a lot of these).

Please e-mail pictures to xKonstantine777@aol.com or IM pictures and questions to me at PrincessSarri or xKonstantine777. Thank you!
